This is the tenth edition of my Piemonte Report. I published the first edition in the Autumn of 2015 in booklet form. I printed 1000 copies, posted them to some of my faithful members, and gave them to all of the Piemontese wineries who were kind enough to send me samples to taste in the autumn of the previous year. In essence, it was to show them that I am incredibly serious about learning about and reporting on the wines from this legendary region – a region that I think of as the last great wine region in the world.
My annual Piemonte Report differs from my four other Reports because these are all vintage Reports on current releases – The Finest Fifty, Burgundy En Primeur, Bordeaux En Primeur and 100 Best Australian Wines. My Piemonte Report is a database of consecutive vintages from the most important estates in the region. All are available exclusively, and free, to Members.
The level of detail, care and sheer hard work that has gone into The Matthew Jukes Piemonte Report 2024 is stunning. It’s not a report. It’s a 447-page book. It covers 10 years of incredible work and dedication, and Matthew’s knowledge shines through every page. His tasting notes are also a joy to read – Matthew wields his words with articulate skill. Perhaps the best Piemonte resource in the English-speaking world, this is a guide for newbies, geeks, connoisseurs, collectors, students and travellers. It is also, I might add, meticulously edited and easily navigable.
Thank you very much for the incredible work that you have done describing the wines of our region.
