‘Thank you very much for the incredible work that you have done describing the wines of our region’ – Poderi Aldo Conterno
I am delighted to announce the publication of my 2022 Piemonte Report. This is the eighth and largest initiative I have ever published, whether in book format or online, and I hope that it enlightens Piemonte lovers like never before.
With 129 estates featured and over 1700 wines tasted and no less than 140,000 words of tasting notes, this body of work is the result of exhaustive tastings in Piemonte and London over the last nine years.
As every year passes, I include another layer of notes, releasing them as an evolving vertical analysis of the finest estates in both Barolo and Barbaresco. I include a handful of Barberas and Dolcettos, too, and this year I have included a number of reviews of wines from the fascinating 2018 and 2019 vintages.
My annual Piemonte Report differs from my other Reports – Bordeaux En Primeur, Burgundy En Primeur and 100 Best Australian Wines – because these are all annual Reports featuring snapshots of current release wines, while Piemonte concentrates both on new releases and also older vintages, too.
It is my intention that this Piemonte Report becomes a valuable database of tasting notes for those of you who are, like me, wholly captivated by the majesty and wonder of the last great wine region in the world.
