A Wine Box worthy of serious consideration from Laylo!

I like the Laylo folk, and I admire what they are doing. I have written up one of their boxes before, and a couple of others came close, too. This hit rate makes this innovative company my preferred box-specialists in the country. Lot #11 was released last week, and I was delighted to taste a preview sample. I know the first thing one does when one sees the price of a wine box is to frantically work the maths to find out the bottle-priced equivalent. The answer is £12.66 per bottle. Now listen in – Weingut Esterházy makes this wine, and these chaps know what they are doing. At £12.66, this is a cracking wine with undoubted class and silky-smooth, crystalline fruit. But I don’t want a bottle of this wine. I want a ‘tregnum’ in a stunningly designed square box that slides effortlessly into my fridge, giving me the pleasure of pouring 18 glasses of layered, luxurious, super-cool Grüner whenever I wish.
