NV Waitrose Blanc de Noirs, Champagne, France (£18.99, Waitrose).  With the strong euro playing havoc with European wine purchases and the Champenois having their worst year of sales in living memory there is a lot of flux in the prices and more importantly the quality of Champagne on the shelves this... 

2006 Rosso di Montalcino, Ginestreto, Fuligni, Tuscany, Italy (£17.95, by the case £16.50, Lea & Sandeman, tel. 020 7244 0522 and www.leaandsandeman.co.uk).  This is the finest wine I can possibly think of drinking this week, not least because it is delicious, wintry, noble, highly intellectual... 

2005 Saumur-Champigny, Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Filliatreau, Loire, France (£29.50, Magnum, Yapp Brothers Ltd tel. 01747 860 423 & www.yapp.co.uk). The 75cl version of this legendary wine is now on the 2007 vintage, and it is an undeniable beauty. Thankfully though the magnums have lagged behind...
